An hour long hailstorm put upside down the lives of the San Miguel de Allende residents who watched in disbelief as the streets flooded with ice and water within minutes. The storm shed all leaves from trees and even uprooted a few, power lines fell, walls collapsed, damaged roofs and closed avenues.

The current carried away everything on its path, fortunately there are no human casualties to mourn.

The Hailstorm arrived along with the rain unexpectedly at 12:00 a.m. and both lasted until 1:00 a.m. 

Suddenly the streets and yards were carpeted in white, ice pebbles were falling everywhere, first drawing admiration, but increasingly raising worries for a possible flooding… which indeed happened.

This is a damage report shared by Protección Civil, gathered from the 911 calls:

Granizo y lluvia en San Miguel de Allende

#MEDIANOCHE.- A las 12:00 a.m. de este lunes, se registró la primera caída de #granizo y #lluvia sobre San Miguel de Allende. Conforme avanzaban los minutos, el #espectáculo “bonito” que vestía de #blanco la ciudad, comenzó a #convertirse en problema cuando una hora más tarde, había dejado daños e #inundaciones en varias partes de la #ciudad.
