Jack Watson, who was the White House chief of staff to former President Jimmy Carter, will speak at the 2014 Campaign Kick-Off Breakfast, organized by Democrats Abroad San Miguel de Allende.

He will address a number of issues that U.S. voters face this year and the prospects of Democratic candidates in 2014, looking forward to the presidential campaign of 2016.

Watson is a prominent Atlanta attorney and during the Carter administration, he served as assistant to the president for intergovernmental affairs, White House chief of staff and secretary to the cabinet. In 1975 and 1976, he served as one of the national finance directors of the Carter primary presidential campaign. Following Carter’s nomination as the Democratic nominee for president, Watson chaired the Carter-Mondale policy planning group and then, upon Carter’s election, he served as the director of the Carter transition team during the transition of government from President Ford to President Carter. In 1980 and 1981, Watson directed the transition of government from President Carter to President Reagan.

Jack Watson and his wife Beth have had a home in San Miguel for the last ten years. They divide their time between San Miguel and Atlanta, Georgia.

The event will take place this Thursday, April 3 at Los Milagros Restaurant between 10 am and noon, during which a breakfast buffet will be made available to attendees.

Everyone is welcome and tickets will be sold at the door for $150 pesos, including gratuity. All proceeds from the event will be used for the Democrats Abroad non-partisan effort to re-register all U.S. voters in San Miguel and provide them with absentee ballot assistance.

Democrats Abroad San Miguel de Allende is a membership organization open to anyone living permanently or temporarily in Mexico who supports the Democratic Party.
