San Miguel Enters Phase Two of Security Strategy

In the next few days, the municipal government will announce San Miguel de Allende’s comprehensive security strategy, which will target home invasion and street crime. Given the scope of the project, everyone needs to take part: from all levels of government and police agencies, private security companies, businesses and associations to the community itself, including local citizens—who are turning up in growing numbers—and representatives of San Miguel’s foreign population.
Mayor Mauricio Trejo Pureco declared that the time has come to move into phase two of his administration’s security strategy. “The first stage centered on eliminating high-profile abductions and preventing organized crime from entering San Miguel de Allende.
We have met these challenges. The second phase deals with the problem of home invasion and street crime, and we are in the process of finalizing the most effective ways to address these issues.”
The mayor indicated that the team members are taking their positions to execute the game plan, which requires the participation
of all players. “That’s right. Every one of us will have a clearly defined role to play in making San Miguel safe. We will be working in teams and every month we will reconvene to assess our progress, pinpoint the areas in which we must intensify efforts and determine where our energies will have the greatest impact. “I can guarantee this: the second phase of this three-year project will be as much of a success as the first, because all of us here in

San Miguel de Allende want to make our city, the safest city in the nation, and only together, can we meet this goal,” emphasized Mayor Mauricio Trejo Pureco.
