The “I Want You to Be Honest Guanajuato” campaign was launched. Its main objective: to invite citizens to monitor the allocation of public resources to ensure that these funds go to the state’s programs, projects and public works.
Citizens will participate in social auditing programs in an effort to promote social engagement and crime reporting among the citizens of Guanajuato.
Governor Miguel Márquez commented that this campaign—headed by the state government and the Chamber
of the Television and Radio In- dustry (CIRT)—seeks to develop crime prevention tactics among children and teenagers in schools and to encourage people to report acts of corruption, misconduct and shortcomings in government procedures and services.
“The first thing we need to do is to listen. We understand the needs of the different regions and sectors, who clearly state what they want, but we, the civil servants, need to keep our feet on the ground and uphold our responsibilities and our commitment to society. I have been inspired to reflect on the times we are living in, which are not easy and never have been. But today’s challenges can be made into opportunities and what I see is the opportunity to listen,” he declared during his speech.
